Are you a Children’s Ministry leader or considering it? Do you want to grow in your leadership abilities? Looking for a book or resource to help you get back on your feet? Check out the Children’s Ministry Leadership the You-Can-Do-It-Guide by Jim Wideman. Great tools, advice, and leadership principles you can start applying today!

In his book Jim Wideman covers many great topics including leadership fundamentals, traits of a leader, our role, delegating, recruiting volunteers, and so much more. I just finished it and found so many good points (buy it, you’ll be highlighting a ton) that I wish I could share it all. However, since I can’t I’ll share some quotes and encourage you to go read it for yourself!

  • When someone comes from another church to your church, that’s not growth.
  • If you want to grow in your sphere of influence and responsibility, first do excellent work in handling the tasks at hand.
  • Good leaders are also good followers.
  • The first time you show up in the back of a teacher’s class with a clipboard and evaluation form, you’ll communicate loud and clear that you’re leading.
  • When you try to do it all yourself, you are signing up for burnout.
  • You’ll never step out and be the leader God wants you to be without taking risks. Are you willing?
  • The only way to break free and see new results is to make changes.
  • You’re a leader and that means you’re a problem solver.
  • When you work for God, you won’t be overwhelmed.
  • You’ll get more volunteers if you’ll accept chickens as well as pigs. They’ll lay eggs and be glad to do it.
  • There are people in your congregation who need to be needed.
  • Next-level leaders assess where they are.
  • If you want to be an effective leader, find a way to put your family first.
  • Successful leaders make mistakes – and they learn from those mistakes.
  • It’s never too late to change. It’s never too late to start doing ministry differently. And it’s never too late to learn from the mistakes of others.
