GOing ..into the harvest field.. – 3 responsibilities we have as Christians
GOing into all the world. We are called to GO, across the nation, online, and right where we are at. This morning at my home church we learned about Missions and the harvest field. The notes and message were helpful to me and I think you could benefit from them as well.
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:35-38)
- *”When you become a Christian you become a missionary.”
- “We are called to GO.”*
As Christians we have some responsibilities. Here are three.
- *”Visualize – See the harvest. Recognize that not everyone is saved. We need to see that the harvest is just waiting to be harvested. We will never reap until we first enter the field.
- Agonize – “Ask the Lord of the harvest”.. KJV says “Pray”. We are called to snatch them “out of the fire.”
- Evangelize – It isn’t enough to see the need, or is it enough to pray for the lost and be concerned for their souls. Jesus calls everyone into the saving business. Tell someone today.
An old hymn used to say “you bring the one next to you, and I’ll bring the one next to me and in no time at all we’ll have them all; so win them, win them, one by one.”*
Who do you need to tell or invite today? Go to a neighbor, make a phone call, or get online (FB, Twitter, email, etc).
